New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi today said India has already achieved 19 per cent ethanol blending in Petrol and that number is going to rise to 20 per cent by October this year.
"The growth in Ethanol blending has led to forex savings and generation of substantial farmer revenue. At the same time CO2 emissions have been cut," Modi said speaking at the opening session of the India Energy Week here. He added that India's progress on Ethanol blending is a prime example of how the country is achieving its energy goals before time.
He said the next two decades are very important for "Viksit Bharat", the country will cross many big landmarks in the next five years on this front, and many of India's energy goals have been aligned based on the 2030 deadline.
"By 2030, we want to add 500 GW renewable energy capacity. Indian Railways has set a target of Net Zero carbon emissions by 2030. By 2030, we want to be able to produce 5 MT green hydrogen every year," he said, adding that these targets may look ambitious but based on what we have achieved in the past ten years, they will be achieved.
