The affected companies are Terra Roxa Comércio de Cereais, Olam Brasil, C.Vale Cooperativa Agroindustrial, Cargill Agricola SA, and ADM do Brasil.
China has temporarily halted soybean shipments from five Brazilian companies due to phytosanitary concerns, including chemical contamination, pests, and insects.
The affected companies are Terra Roxa Comércio de Cereais, Olam Brasil, C.Vale Cooperativa Agroindustrial, Cargill Agricola SA, and ADM do Brasil.
The suspension began on January 8 for Terra Roxa, Olam, and C.Vale and on January 14 for Cargill and ADM. The duration of the suspension remains unclear but is expected to be short-term.
Brazil is the world’s largest soybean exporter, while China is the top global importer. The issue has raised concerns over export quality control, as cargoes from these companies reportedly failed to meet Chinese phytosanitary standards. Both the companies involved and Chinese customs have yet to comment on the matter.
This development signifies the critical importance of compliance with international agricultural trade standards.
